We are so excited to reveal this exterior home makeover in the community of Woodbine (Calgary, AB).
The homeowners were amazing to work with and we love the vision they had for their home. The bulk of this reno took about 6 weeks with a custom door adding an additional 2 weeks on to the project.
Roof Line
The project started with the addition of gables which changed the roofline and modernized the home.
Gable
A gable is the triangular part of a house’s exterior wall that supports a pointed or peaked roof.
Houses and buildings with pitched roofs have front-facing or side-facing gables — or often, both. The shape and structure of these pointed gables help support a house’s roof and give the building a architectural style
Roof Replacement
The original grey 3-tab shingles were replaced with IKO Cambridge Architectural Shingles in dual black. These shingles have deep shadow bands which give the roof a multi-dimensional appearance. All of our asphalt shingles are “storm nailed” which means we use 6 nails instead of 4 for better performance in high winds.
Siding
James Hardie fiber cement siding was used to replace the original vinyl siding. The color of the 8.25” HardiePlank is Timber Bark which beautifully highlights the soft texture of the siding that is designed to mimic wood. The siding is engineered with long-lasting ColorPlus Technology and comes with a 30-Year Limited Warranty.
All the trims are HardieTrim Boards 5/4 Roughsawn. The trim has a genuine wood grain texture to add distinction to the home with unmatched performance. The color of the trim is Monterey Taupe which is a beautiful accent color for the Timber Bark siding.
Soffit & Fascia
The updated fascia is Gentek’s 8” ribbed aluminum in Canyon Clay. Soffits include both vented and non vented 4-panel in Canyon Clay to match the fascia.

Eavestroughs/Gutters
New 5” aluminum seamless gutters were installed in Canyon Clay to match the soffit and fascia. The homeowners also requested an Alu-Rex Premium Gutter Clean System which is a rain gutter leaf guard that is attached to the top of the gutter to catch leaves and other debris while still allowing water to pass through.
Stone Accents
The stone is called Banff Springs and beautifully compliments the dark wood tones of the front door and garage. We always encourage homeowners to visit local stone suppliers in person to see the true color and texture of the stone they are interested in.
Windows
The windows are part of Gentek’s Regency line which combine classic beauty, enduring strength and easy upkeep with maximum energy savings. Gentek has several glass packages available and the homeowners chose a high performance, triple glazed, EnergyPlus 3DK window with an ER Rating of 38. This is the highest ER rating available which maximizes the benefits of natural or radiant heat known as “Solar Heat Gain”.
