Did you know you can replace your roof while helping the environment?  Enter Euroshield Rubber Roofing.  Made from recycled tires, this roof replacement option is an excellent choice for Calgarians as it comes with a class 4 hail rating and is manufactured locally.

Euroshield products contain 70% crumb rubber from tires and approximately 95% recycled content.  In Alberta, Euroshield utilizes 53% of the crumb rubber generated by crumb rubber processors to create their roofing products.

We have found rubber roofing shakes to be a popular choice in communities with aging cedar shakes that need replacing.  The rubber roof options come in 3 shake profiles and 2 slate profiles.

Shake Profiles

Euroshield has 3  shake profiles available – EuroShake, Beaumont Shake and Harvest Shake.

Hubbard Roofing and Exteriors recently replaced a shake roof in SE Calgary with the Beaumont Shake in Silverwood. The results is a beautifully updated roof with a similar look to the original cedar shake roof, but in a new, refreshing color.  The rubber roof will not fade or crack like the original shake product, providing the homeowner with maintenance free protection for their home.

The Beaumont shake is the newest addition to the Euroshield family and was introduced in 2016.  It is the most authentic looking shake option with less panels than the Harvest Shake which is great for a larger roof.

The 3 shake profiles come in the following colors:

  • EuroShake – Black, Weathered Brown & Grey
  • Harvest Shake – Saxon Black, Woodlands Brown & Silverwod (grey)
  • Beaumont Shake – Saxon Black, Woodlands Brown & Silverwood (grey)

Slate Profiles

Euroshield has 2 slate profiles available – Rundle Slate and Heritage Slate.

Both slate profiles were created to replicate the look of a traditional slate roof without the heavy weight and high cost.  Heritage Slate is a thinner, lighter, and more cost effective option than the original Rundle Slate (previously known as EuroSlate).

The 3 slate profiles come in the following colors:

  • Rundle Slate – Blackstone, Brownstone & Greystone
  • Heritage Slate – Charcoal Black, Sterling Brown & Rustic Grey

Welcome to the first instalment of Transformation Tuesday!

Hubbard Roofing & Exteriors recently completed a full exterior renovation on a split level home in Okotoks. The home had suffered hail damage last summer and the homeowners contacted Kelly at Hubbard Roofing to assist them with their claim and be the point of contact for their insurance company.

Kelly was able to work with the insurance company and have them replace the entire roof and all the siding, even though the homeowners were initially told only half of the roof and two sides of the house would be covered by their insurance provider.

The photos below show the original home on the left and the renovated home on the right.  What a difference!

The full scope of works included:

  • Roof replacement
  • Siding replacement
  • Addition of rock accents to front and back
  • Replace soffit & fascia
  • Addition of pot lights
  • New doors

Roof Replacement

The homeowners replaced their roof with an upgraded IKO Cambridge IR shingle which has a class 4 hail rating. The hail rating was designed by IKO to provide homeowners a discount on their home insurance (where available). The IR shingle is laminated to help resist rain and high wind and has a special nailing zone that requires only 4 nails.

The Cambridge IR shingle is available in 5 colors and the color the homeowners chose is dual black.

The final touch on the roof was the installation of the IKO Ultra HP (high profile) Ridge Cap.  A high profile ridge cap is designed to add depth, dimension and texture to the roof.  They are preformed and precut for precise installation.

Siding Replacement

The homeowners also upgraded their siding and chose a Gentek Sequoia Select Enfusion in Windswept Smoke. This is a laminated siding that comes in both a 5″ and 6″ clapboard which is fortified with EPS (expanded polystyrene) rigid foam insulation. The insulated siding creates a blanket of thermal protection to shield your home from inclement weather and energy loss.  The new siding in the photo below is the 6″ board.

The Sequoia Enfusion siding comes in 9 classic colors and 7 designer colors. Windswept smoke is from the designer profile.

Smart Trim

The exterior was finished with Smart Trim which beautifully accents the windows.  Smart Trim is available in a variety of textures and profiles and can be painted to match the siding or painted in a contrasting color to really stand out.  The trim around the windows was painted a darker shade than the siding to add a bit of contrast.

Hubbard Roofing & Exteriors is proud to be an IKO Shield Pro Plus Contractor and a Gentek Premium Renovator.
